Our name, Carrotseed, comes from a classic children's story by Ruth Krauss about a little boy who makes his dream come true through faith and hard work, amid skepticism and doubt. The story serves as inspiration to CarrotSeed's own dream of seeing the elimination of single-use products. Some people think that is simply impossible. We don't.

CarrotSeed was founded in 2007 by the husband and wife team of Jerry and Tara Casagrande. We've set out to create a triple bottom line business--one that contributes to the health of the planet and to the vitality of our communities (people) while also earning a profit. We enjoy our work and we are in it for our children's future.

Carrotseed is an authentic company. We have searched the marketplace for products that fit with our mission of providing easy alternatives to single-use products. We feel with b. happy Bags, Chico bags, wrap-n-mats and compostable serviceware we are working to obtain our mission.

Working together with leading manufacturers of reusable shopping bags and compostable food serviceware, we are planting a seed. We ask you to join us in faithfully watering it, weeding it, and shining new light upon it—and together we will help that seed blossom into a fresh way of thinking and being that is better for the planet, for our community, and for our children.
